Audio post Production.
I first got involved with Audio Post production because some TV producers knew I could mix music so they assumed that I could record voices, mix music beds, ambience and sound FX together. And they were right. Once you understand the parameters of broadcast then it’s all about making the project sound well balanced. My first venture into this area was a feature documentary, “The Grape Tapes “ about the band Black Grape recording their album in LA and the Bahamas – interesting on lots of levels. Since then I have mixed many TV documentaries for, ITV, Channel 4, BBC, Al Jazeera, Nickelodeon, Net Flicks etc. I’ve worked on daytime TV and been the main audio editor for live broadcasts with ITV including the series “Soap Star Superstar.” I then set up my own audio postproduction studio Candy Studios In Manchester and established a very successful business working predominantly in TV commercials. I’ve mixed hundreds of TV adverts to compliant tech specs. I’ve also been involved with several feature film projects mixing in stereo and 5.1 surround including Under the Mud (Hurricane films) The Butterfly Tattoo (Phillip Pullman) and Of Time and the City (Terrence Davies) recently mixing the audio and composing the music for Dennis Rodman’s Big Bang in PyongYang and Alex James: Slowing Down Fast Fashion Candy Studios continues to be successful although after 8 years I have recently moved on to set up a new, state of the art, beautifully constructed facility near Bantham Beach , South Devon’s premiere surf location . As more and more people work with me remotely via the internet, the opportunity to continue to be involved in the industry, but in a beautiful environment, was a dream I have been fortunate enough to achieve.
